Meet Kai Hill

As the late great Biz Markie once said, “I’d like to introduce myself.” Now that the Soirée is less than two weeks away, you might like a reminder that I am Kai! I am the human behind all of the jewelry and the emails (both the quick and the slow responses). I have been making jewelry for 13 years now, and hope to continue indefinitely. The first KHM jewelry party occurred when I officially launched by business in the Fall of 2019 (many of you may remember). The Soirée has been a beautiful annual build off of that momentous evening featuring meaningful collaborations with other artists along the way. This event is meant to be a meeting of minds and of creativity- a place for everyone to feel the joyful and effort-full slowness of fine craft. It is meant to bring adjacent and overlapping circles of wonderful people (you!) into orbit with one another, with art as the catalyst.

Meet Sadie Rapp

Sadie is a craft artist in rural Orange County where she operates Triple Spring Studios, a community arts studio offering workshops in a wide variety of media. She graduated from the Craft/Material Studies program at VCUarts in 2019, and promptly dove into making work to sell and teaching classes for friends and family. Sadie’s focus shifted at the start of 2023 from a conventional studio practice, oriented towards making and selling objects, towards the launch of Triple Spring Studios and building community through adult arts education. The venture has allowed Sadie to engage more with the wide variety of craft practices she loves, and enrich her own practice by being less creatively and physically isolated. It has also been a perfect outlet for the desire to convince others of the preciousness of making things yourself!
