Or shall I say Summer Camp? I had an incredible time honing my Pavé abilities last week under the expert guidance of Master Craftsman, Jason Marchiafava. Every day was packed full of perfect details and challenging feats of precision. I am not someone who is obsessed with or immobilized by the pursuit of perfection, but I do love to know that it exists and I like to steer my car in its general direction. Now I have a map! I learned tips and tricks that will change the way I work for the rest of my career, and even learned how to sit more comfortably in a chair at my bench…! That alone is worth its weight in gold.
Not only did we learn bucketloads of new skills and make bucketloads of new tiny tools, we also learned to spot historic and proprietary microscopic details in the handiwork of the most iconic jewelry houses of the last century. I hope that whatever got bumped off the shelf in the memory archives to make room for that new information wasn’t too important. I also got to learn and share industry stories and advice alongside my very cool and impressive peers and friends from all around the country, and explore the Nashville TN area.
If you have trypophobia, Pavé is not for you! The theme of pavé is patterns of holes. Holes are the key and the answer to everything. Over the course of five days, I drilled over 150 tiny holes! Behold some of those holes.
